This position travels to different locations through Virginia for welding & pipe rehabilitation projects. This position will incorporate the duties of a welder, as well as a general laborer. This position will often require additional tasks such as installing silt fence, sand bag filling, sheet pile installation, and removing debris from existing pipe.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
• Connect pipe by welding pieces together at the butt joint and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety, productivity or the equipment itself
