Overview
Churchill Consulting Engineers is seeking a highly motivated Highway Engineer to join our team in Berlin, NJ. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of industry experience in highway design and transportation engineering. An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required, while a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Location : Berlin, NJ
Compensation : $80,000 - $120,000 / year
Key Responsibilities
- Highway and Roadway Design : Develop highway alignments and profiles, typical sections, and cross-sections in accordance with NJTA, NJDOT and AASHTO standards.
- Project Coordination : Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and within budget.
- Safety Improvements and MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) : Evaluate existing roadways for safety improvements, including signage and striping. Develop MOT needs for construction projects to manage traffic flow safely during construction, including barrier placement, construction signage, and temporary striping.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure designs comply with NJTA, NJDOT, AASHTO, and local regulations.
- Plan Development and Software Utilization : Prepare technical reports and plans using CAD software, with preference for MicroStation; develop specifications and cost estimates in accordance with NJTA and NJDOT standards.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.Experience : Minimum 5+ years in highway design or transportation engineering.Certification : EIT required; PE license preferred (or ability to obtain in the near future).Technical Skills : Proficiency in MicroStation InRoads or Power InRoads (preferred) or other CAD software for roadway design.Knowledge : Familiarity with NJTA, NJDOT, and AASHTO design standards and guidelines.Benefits
