We are looking for an experienced Sales & Tax Use Manager to join our team in Tonawanda, New York. In this role, you will oversee corporate tax operations, ensuring compliance with sales and use tax regulations while maintaining accurate financial records. This position offers the opportunity to lead tax-related audits and drive efficiencies in tax reporting processes.

Responsibilities :

• Perform monthly reconciliations between Vertex, the general ledger, and tax return data.
• Prepare balance sheet and cash reconciliations at the end of each month, including adjusting journal entries as needed.
• Oversee the submission of sales and use tax payments through Anybill and coordinate treasury funding requests.
• Assist with compliance-related activities, including preparing and reviewing sales tax calculations and customer setups.
• Manage sales and use tax audits and negotiations, providing leadership to one direct report.
• Issue and review exemption certificates, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Maintain the Vertex O Series Tax Engine, including updating tax mappings and drivers.
• Process refund requests, both internal and external, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Support the review of sales orders to verify tax calculations and maintain organizational setup within Vertex.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MST degree or courses a plus
• Min of 7 years Sales Tax experience in either a large industry or Big 4 Public Accounting with a Manufacturing or retail background
• Experience using Vertex or other sales tax software is necessary
• Prior experience managing a team preferred
• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements utilizing innovative solutions
• Ability to work cross functionally in a matrix organization
• Ability to drive value and minimize tax within the sales tax function
• Strong project management skills
