About The Project / Clinic

AMI will be assisting in providing medical staff to the Rosebud Comprehensive Health Care Facility in

Rosebud, South Dakota to help deliver compassionate and quality healthcare to patients in the area.

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will provide high-quality, compassionate, and efficient

care to patients in critical and acute situations. This role requires rapid assessment, emergency

intervention, and close collaboration with the healthcare team to stabilize and treat patients in a fast paced environment.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid assessment of patients upon arrival to determine severity.
  • Prioritize patient care based on acuity using standardized triage systems (e.g., Emergency

Severity Index – ESI).

  • Deliver immediate, accurate care in high-stress, time-sensitive situations.
  • Monitor and assess vital signs and overall patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and perform emergency interventions (e.g., CPR,
  • defibrillation).

  • Partner with ED physicians, specialists, and support staff.
  • Communicate effectively about patient status, treatment responses, and care plans.
  • Assist in procedures such as intubations, central line insertions, and wound care.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health
  • record (EHR).

  • Maintain thorough, timely, and compliant patient records under pressure.
  • Provide clear education on procedures, medications, and post-care instructions.
  • Work with case managers or social workers for discharge, referrals, or transfers.
  • Respond to emergency codes (e.g., Code Blue, trauma alerts).
  • Deliver critical care to patients experiencing life-threatening conditions such as strokes, cardiac
  • arrest, and traumatic injuries.

  • Adhere to strict infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Promote safety for patients, staff, and self within the ED environment.
  • Assess and manage patients in psychiatric or behavioral health crises.
  • Apply de-escalation techniques and coordinate with psychiatric services as needed
  • The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.

  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Education & Experience

  • Highest degree attained in Nursing.
  • Valid RN license (any U.S. state accepted).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced
  • Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of Emergency Department nursing experience.
  • Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
