Overview
LaunchCode is seeking a candidate to join an exciting and growing opportunity within the Defense sector. There is an immediate need for a Data Engineer who will support the client with their most complex challenges. The role will require applying current data analytics capabilities to assist the client with a large-scale financial transformation. The candidate will also operate in an ever-changing landscape and will be directly involved in finding opportunities for future growth. On a regular basis, the candidate will be tasked with analyzing large, disparate sets of data to advise the client on strategic and financial decisions. A strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, etc.) will be foundational in the role; the candidate should also have a working knowledge of modern trends within the data science space. Moreover, the role will require coordination with cross-functional teams and the ability to use their technical findings to support team leadership in the development of executive-level briefings. The position will be based at Scott AFB (Illinois) : on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, clean, and validate data from various source systems in multiple formats
- Maintain and update databases in Teradata and Databricks using documented ETL processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement findings to support client efficiencies
- Develop and maintain dashboards to communicate findings in a user-friendly format
- Analyze large, unstructured datasets to identify key insights and support senior-level decision making
- Support requirements definition and analysis from multiple client stakeholders
- Ensure data privacy and compliance with regard to Defense-related security regulations
- Ensure the ongoing documentation of technical practices and the development of any requisite user guides
Required Skills & Qualifications
Interim Secret clearance or higher requiredBachelor's and / or Master's degree from an accredited university1-5 years of experience in a Data Analyst or Data Scientist role, preferably within the Federal spaceExperience with data analysis tools and software (e.g. SQL, Python)Familiarity with the principles of database management and script developmentExperience with SQL query engines – Databricks, Snowflake and RedshiftFamiliarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Cognos, Tableau, Qlik) and techniquesExtract, Transform, Load (ETL) experience : familiarity with establishing and maintaining data load processes, as well as manipulate and combine various data sourcesTeradata experience : Knowledge of Multiloads, BTEQs, and other Teradata procedures will be beneficial in the roleFamiliarity with Defense-based operations and systems would be preferredPMP, CDFM, CGFM and / or CPA certifications are a plusSeniority level
