Overview

Direct Counsel is seeking a Venture & Growth Attorney to join the finance department of a leading AmLaw 100 firm. This is a professional track (non-partnership track) position available in multiple U.S. offices, with preferred locations including Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and San Diego. The role offers sophisticated work with top-tier clients while maintaining a more flexible career path outside of the traditional partnership track.

Key Responsibilities

Represent lenders—including banks and private credit funds—in connection with commercial finance transactions.

Advise on loans to technology, life sciences, and middle market companies.

Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements and related financing documents.

Collaborate with deal teams and clients across offices in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment.

Provide clear, strategic guidance and ensure efficient management of matters from inception to closing.

Qualifications

JD from an accredited law school.

Admission to practice in the jurisdiction where applying.

4+ years of experience representing lenders in commercial finance transactions.

Prior AmLaw 100 firm experience strongly preferred.

Familiarity with venture and growth lending for technology, life sciences, and / or middle market companies.

Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple transactions, work independently, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Compensation & Benefits

Expected hiring range : $130,000 – $200,000 , depending on location and experience.
