Job Summary
The Director of Distribution Operations leads a team of over 100 people across multiple facilities that includes managers, supervisors, and hourly warehouse associates. This role is responsible for the operations of the warehouse including effective implementation and use of the WMS system for receiving, put away, replenishment, pick / pack / ship, and all other ancillary processes including light assembly / re-pack and soap manufacturing. This position will work with all associates to run the operations efficiently and safely. This role will manage team member responsibilities, ensuring positive accountability to achieve assigned goals, objectives, and key results. In addition, the role is responsible for management of freight / logistics, including parcel, LTL and full TL for inbound and outbound. It is expected that effective relationships be established with carriers, freight brokers and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in cost and service levels. Some travel required.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Improve the processes for the warehouse through analysis and collaboration with leadership and warehouse associates.
- Evaluate and analyze current work methods and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Lead with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Be involved in long-term business planning at the managerial level.
- Collaborate with department management to develop financial plans.
- Guides associates in daily operations and monitors to ensure a high degree of productivity, safety, service and quality.
- Responsible for the training, coaching and feedback of warehouse associates, and performs regular evaluations of associates through factual data and subjective observations.
- Resolves associate relations issues that arise in assigned functional area.
- Responsible for Facilities including maintenance & repair of warehouse equipment and building / property.
- Manages freight / logistics function through carriers, brokers and other stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement in cost and service levels to customers.
- Works closely and constructively with leaders of IT, HR, Customer Service, Marketing, Merchandising, and Supply Chain to identify business needs and concerns that relate to the warehouse and identify solutions.
Minimum Qualifications :
Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a leadership role managing teams in a collaborative, constructive team approach.Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the product distribution and / or manufacturing functions.Warehouse operations management experience.Experience leveraging systems (ERP, WMS) to improve operations.High degree of overall business acumen.Strong verbal and written communication abilities.Effective data-based decision-making and presentation skills.Experience with developing budgets and writing business plans.Education Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Administration.Physical Requirements :
Walking and standing for long periods of time.Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods of time.Must be able to bend, squat, and lift up to 35 pounds on an occasional basis.Requires full range of body motion.
