Police- Hospital Resource Officer- Georgia Regional Hospital- Atlanta
Under supervision, provide consultative and onsite support at the Department of Behavioral Health & Development Disabilities hospitals with a primary focus on assessing, identifying, and responding to internal and external threats (employees, visitors, physical plant). Performs a full range of assigned duties to maintain security and order at an assigned location.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintains law and order on hospital grounds and a visible presence to deter trespassers.
- Serves as first responder to emergencies on campus, i.e. fires, disorderly conduct, and criminal activity.
- Provides instructions and directions to others as it pertains to law enforcement matters and emergency situations.
- Partners with the hospital security staff to maintain safety at DBHDD location(s).
- Patrols and protect hospital buildings, parking lots and grounds for suspicious activity.
- Checks for breaches of security, and unsafe conditions
Conducts administrative and criminal investigations
Monitors security equipment and camera systems and ensure problems are reported immediately so that corrective actions can be implemented.Liase / exchange information with GBI on matters as needed.Prepares written reports, maintains daily logs.Can be temporarily reassigned to another hospital location due to specific needs of that hospitalPhysical Requirements :
Must be able to patrol grounds on foot and in vehicle.Work in inclement weather.Overtime work including evenings and weekends.Ability to walk, run, climb or site for extended period of time.Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma / GEDGeorgia P.O.S.T. certification as a peace officer in good standing as defined by Ga P.O.S.T. Council.Four (4) years of experience required at the lower-level Police Officer 1 (PSP120) or Police Officer 2 (PSP121) or position equivalent.Valid Georgia driver's license in good standing.A current GA P.O.S.T. professional profile must be submitted as part of the application process with the PBLE number attached.Preferred Qualifications :
Associate's degree in criminal justice, Public Administration, Sociology or a related field.Two (2) or more years of experience of investigative work in a federal, state or local law enforcement agency.Employment Requirements :
