About The Position

Job Title : Radiologic Technologist

Profession : Radiologic Technologist

Specialty : Computed Tomography

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Three 12-hour shifts : 7 PM to 7 AM or four 10-hour shifts : 9 PM to 7 AM

Hours per Shift : 36 hours guaranteed

Experience : Minimum of 2 years of CT experience required

License : Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and maintain required hours of continued medical education.

Certifications : BLS, ARRT (CT)

Must-Have : Experience with GE and Phillips equipment

Description :

Under general supervision, this position specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients.

May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations.

Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.

Reviews clinical data and performs appropriate examinations.

Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.

Prepares the procedure room and replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies regularly.

Analyzes anatomical structures, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan.

Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.

Administers intravenous contrast media and monitors patients for possible reactions.

Provides immediate care to patients if a reaction occurs.

May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures.

Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.

Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures.

Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating principles of radiation protection.

Resolves all image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery.

Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System.

Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.

Demonstrates standards of excellence including communication, ownership, understanding, motivation, sensitivity, and teamwork.

Performs all necessary documentation in the medical record and the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.

May work in a fixed unit or in a mobile unit.

May be exposed to radiation and high-voltage equipment if proper precautions are not utilized.

May be exposed to potentially contagious patients.

Occasionally may lift or move equipment and / or patients exceeding 10 pounds.
