Overview

About the Role

Instacart is hiring a QA Engineer to raise the quality bar for customer and shopper lifecycle marketing campaigns. This role blends hands-on QA testing with process design and tool expertise to ensure every Push Notification, Email, SMS, and In-App message we ship is accurate, timely, and customer-centric.

As a QA Engineer, you will own the end-to-end validation of marketing campaigns — spanning rendering, targeting, personalization, and experimentation — while also shaping protocols, checklists, and lightweight automation that help the team scale. You'll partner closely with CRM, Operations, Engineering, and Creative to streamline QA workflows and improve delivery speed without compromising quality.

This is a highly cross-functional role where attention to detail, process discipline, and customer empathy are equally critical.

About the Team

The Marketing Enablement & Technology (MET) team builds the systems that power Instacart's growth. Sitting at the intersection of Marketing, Product, and Engineering, we own the platforms behind campaign feeds, audience targeting, event pipelines, and QA automation.

Our work is both technical and strategic : ensuring today's marketing stack is reliable while shaping multi-year roadmaps that scale with the business. Fast-moving and highly collaborative, MET tackles Instacart's most complex, cross-org challenges — turning marketing strategy into measurable impact.

About the Job

  • Execute end-to-end QA on CRM campaigns across email, push, SMS, and in-app — including rendering, segmentation, links, personalization logic, and state-based targeting (ie. shopper vs customer, logged in vs out).
  • Establish QA protocols, checklists, and processes that standardize quality reviews across campaign types and channels.
  • Leverage CRM tools (Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.) and light scripting to validate content, personalization tokens, and delivery logic.
  • Partner with CRM Ops and Lifecycle Marketing to streamline campaign QA processes and reduce pre-launch friction.
  • Conduct regression and spot checks when new features or campaign surfaces are launched.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort by introducing templates, macros, or tool-native automation.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on QA or QA management experience, ideally with exposure to CRM or marketing automation systems.
  • Demonstrated experience testing campaigns across CRM surfaces (email, push, SMS).
  • Comfort with HTML / CSS to troubleshoot formatting and validate mobile rendering.
  • Familiarity with at least one CRM platform such as Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or Responsys.
  • Strong organizational and process skills; ability to manage multiple campaigns at once.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across marketing, creative, and engineering partners.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing or implementing QA protocols specifically for CRM or lifecycle marketing campaigns.
  • Exposure to campaign experimentation, coupon logic, or personalization token validation.
  • Familiarity with regression testing approaches, anomaly detection, or lightweight automation (ie. macros, tool scripting, or QA plug-ins).
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product and engineering partners to validate new campaign surfaces or features.
  • Comfort with SQL or scripting for campaign data validation (audiences, targeting, exclusions).
  • Experience implementing or working with QA agents, automated testing frameworks, or AI-powered QA tools to streamline campaign validation and enhance QA workflow efficiency.
  • Strong ability to view campaign QA through a customer lens — balancing technical accuracy with user experience impact.
