Production Manager

The Production Manager is responsible for managing daily production activities to meet quality, safety, cost, and delivery targets. This role is critical in driving manufacturing excellence through effective team leadership, process management, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead teams to achieve and maintain KPIs focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, absenteeism, training, compliance, and communication.
  • Evaluate hazard control systems, safety policies, and procedures; recommend and implement improvements to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Coordinate with Environmental Management on hazardous materials policies and procedures.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver safety training programs for new hires, annual refresher training, and training for hourly promotions. Ensure qualified trainers are in place.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits to identify and correct hazardous conditions and unsafe work practices.
  • Provide guidance and counsel on regulatory compliance and maintain up-to-date safety and health program documentation.
  • Maintain product quality and safety standards while ensuring productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Lead and mentor a team to develop direct reports through performance management and clear goal setting; conduct regular performance reviews at 30, 60, 90, 120 days and annually.
  • Foster a motivated and high-performing team environment by setting clear expectations and encouraging superior performance.
  • Ensure operational discipline through documentation, training, compliance monitoring, and data-driven results.
  • Ensure adequate training and backfill plans are in place to cover absences and control overtime in line with the business plan.
  • Monitor individual operator performance (uptime, output, cycles, rejects) and set performance standards.
  • Manage inventory controls for raw materials, packaging, reclaim, and scrap; maintain accurate reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all levels to increase operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure all team members understand process instructions and follow procedures accurately to maintain process integrity.
  • Coordinate support materials, maintain documentation, and centralize team communications.
  • Keep management informed of team progress and provide high-quality reports.
  • Identify training needs and provide or facilitate appropriate training promptly.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred; or a minimum of 5 years of experience in production or manufacturing management, preferably in plastic film, chemical, or related industries.
  • 5–7 years of experience in industrial manufacturing with leadership responsibilities.
  • Sharp, quick-thinking, and detail-oriented with strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Excel and SAP is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to apply skills to continuous process improvements while maintaining safety standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent people and process management skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and follow-up skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
