The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt consists of a 22 bed residential program nationally renowned for expert care. The Retreat is designed for patients seeking a comprehensive evaluation and intensive treatment experience in a psychotherapeutic milieu, unencumbered by the payment policies of third parties in order to give our residents a chance to make meaningful progress toward recovery.
The Retreat offers an elegantly appointed setting in a specially renovated space on Sheppard Pratt's main campus in Towson (Baltimore County).
Residents stay for an intermediate length of several weeks to several months. The Retreat embodies a multi-disciplinary treatment approach to a variety of psychiatric conditions that can be treated safely and effectively in a voluntary, unlocked environment.
These psychiatric conditions may include mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and / or co-occurring disorders including substance-use disorders.
Individualized treatment consists of the following elements :
- Psychopharmacological interventions
- Intensive individual psychotherapy and family therapy
- Group therapy including DBT, psychodynamics, recreation therapy, art therapy, Eastern movement and meditative practices, and other evidence-based group therapies
- Co-occurring Program as indicated for some individuals
As a Registered Nurse at The Retreat you will perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including :
- Participating in assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
- Administering medical treatment as prescribed by physician
- Teaching and providing psychosocial support to patients and their families
- Providing day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff
- Documenting and reporting patient progress to treatment team
- Transporting residents to appointments and activities on and off campus
- Conducting therapeutic groups for residents
- Attending to emergency codes throughout hospital
Requirements :
- Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
- Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred.
- Must be available to work day and evening shifts on weekdays as well as every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday).
- Must be eligible for a Sheppard Pratt driver's license in order to transport patients as needed. If you have 2 or more points on your driving record you may not qualify for this license.
- AHA CPR required before first day of employment
