Overview Of Position

Medifast is looking for an Category Manager, IT and Innovation to join our team and lead sourcing projects across our IT and Innovation teams.

The Category Manager will be responsible for strategic sourcing and procurement across hardware, licensing, software, services, telecommunications, and other technology related categories.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing category strategies with defined plans for optimizing spend leveraging suppliers, define plans for cost savings, risk assessment and mitigating risk to the organization.
  • Manage the end-to-end strategic sourcing process including data and market analysis, strategy development, pricing negotiations, contract review and negotiations, licensing, reseller and equipment maintenance.
  • Lead small-to-large scale sourcing initiatives achieving significant cost reductions while maintaining and improving supplier quality and service levels.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional category teams with internal business partners to provide best overall value to the Company, drawing on innovation and best in class IoT
  • Oversee and advise on contract structure and terms and conditions. Heavy emphasis on technical services and software licensing agreements.
  • Develop strategic supplier relationships to ensure supplier alignment with business goals.
  • Apply industry best practices and market trends to create forward-thinking category strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted business advisor to internal business partners, providing counsel and guidance in the acquisition of products and services.
  • Provide project management and strategic guidance to cross-functional teams and co-workers throughout the sourcing process.
  • Identifying and achieving cost reductions through strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Responsible for the IT categories, being the main point of contact for suppliers regarding contractual and commercial topics.

As part of performance and escalation management, you will also take ownership of issues with internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain a continuous approach to learning and gathering market intelligence in order to keep up with the best source of supply, benchmarking, and market trends.
  • Engage with key business leaders, colleagues, and other stakeholders to gather business requirements and specifications within multiple Corporate Functions and incorporate these into sourcing strategies, supplier selections and decisions.
  • Design and drive overall category strategies, source suppliers for the various IT categories while optimizing commercial terms and total cost of ownership.

Knowledge, Education, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in a business-related area or industry.
  • Minimum years relevant work experience in Procurement within a Sourcing environment.
  • Abundant experience with IT procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience with contract review and negotiations, all phases of strategic sourcing and category strategies, supplier relationship management and project management.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills and ability to influence through factual effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills to manage relationships throughout the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion in a team environment.
  • Excellent presentation skills : Six Sigma or Lean Certification preferred.
