Are you an experienced accountant seeking a challenging opportunity with an employee-owned firm that can offer a great work-life balance and career growth?
S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Accounting Manager to join our Corporate Finance team based in our Headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina .
You'll be joining a very collaborative and supportive team with a hybrid schedule working in the office 3 days a week and reporting to our Controller.
About the Role :
As an Accounting Manager , the role is designed for an experienced individual to manage a broad range of accounting functions in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), such as :
- General Accounting : Responsible for conducting account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, managing general ledger accruals, and overseeing period-end and month-end close processes.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis : Includes preparing financial reports, providing technical advice during annual budget planning, and contributing to financial reporting, analysis, and projections.
- Tax & Compliance : Involves filing sales and use tax returns, assisting in the preparation of annual property and income tax returns, and ensuring year-end compliance for ESOP and 401k plans.
- Asset & Cash Management : Tasks include managing fixed assets and lease schedules, performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring and forecasting cash flow, and maintaining stock schedules.
- Budgeting & Strategic Planning : Supports the annual budgeting process, evaluates potential acquisitions, and provides financial support and training to team members.
- Audit & Process Improvement : Responsible for supporting audits, reviewing and improving processes and internal controls, and developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
- Leadership & Communication : Includes preparing materials for board meetings, addressing discrepancies with senior management, and driving results to align with the company's strategic goals.
About You :
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred
- You have a minimum of 8 years of accounting experience with at least four (4)+ years experience in a supervisory or managerial role
- You have experience in an Architecture / Engineering / Construction (A / E / C) industry or other professional services, a plus
- You have a CPA or CMA, highly preferred
- You have experience with FAR Compliance, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) knowledge, and experience with Subcontractor payables
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office and financial software programs, can perform 10-key by touch with high accuracy, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and commit to organization and highly detail-oriented work
