Duties :
- The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for tasks that ensure smooth patient access and flow.
- Responsibilities include recording patient information such as vital signs, weight and changes in medical history, preparing items necessary for the visit like consent and special equipment, and assisting the provider during the examinations.
- Cleans and prepares exam rooms, sterilizes instruments per protocol, prepares and administers medications for patients as directed by the physician, and completes prescription refills.
- Follows standardized procedures for giving injections to patients.
- Keeps the office running smoothly by answering phones, greeting patients, updating medical charts and records, handling the pre-authorization process, matches patients’ insurance information with the correct provider for the services needed, and orders laboratory services.
- The Medical Assistant provides updates to the staff and patients on the timing and status for all the above tasks and to ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within client and referring physician offices.
- Protects patient confidentiality and follows procedures for handling confidential information. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required :
- Two plus years in healthcare-related field and minimum of two years previous experience within an acute healthcare system environment
- Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred :
- Working Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system EMR’
- Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates
