Position Summary :
Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following infection control practices.
Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital.
Position Accountabilities :
- Ensures proper operation (. runs and records biological tests, inspects equipment for visible signs of malfunction) of sterilizers (sterrad NX, sterrad 100) prior to use on a daily basis.
- Processes all contaminated instruments, endoscopes and supplies returned to the Sterile Processing Department.
- Applies infection prevention techniques in daily work assignments (. general cleaning of department surface areas, racks, shelves, storage cabinets).
- Demonstrates knowledge regarding handling and care of instruments and endoscopes, tray preparation and special procedure items.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper packaging and preparation of all supplies for sterilization.
- Properly loads, operates and cleans all sterilizers (. steam, sterrad). Maintains all department equipment heat sealer).
- Receives, cleans and delivers supplies and equipment in a timely manner. Maintains all crash carts.
- Works closely with Sterile Processing Supervisor and assists with orientation and training of new personnel.
- Completes .edu’s and other required hospital education by the due date.
- Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.
- Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies / Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.
Position Qualifications :
Minimum Education :
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Sterile Processing program
Minimum Experience / Skills :
- One (1) year within the past three (3) years experience as a Sterile Processing Technologist
- Knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department
Licenses / Certificates / Credentials :
Certification in specialty preferred
Pay range : $26.52 - $35.65 hourly

Responsible for activities including, but not limited to decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation including various software applications, assembly, and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials, and working in collaboration with surgical partners to provide accurate and complete surgical instrumentation and needed supplies.
Education :
Required : High school diploma or GED. Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course with field training or 1 year of experience as Sterile Processing Technician or Operating Technician.
Experience :
Preferred : 1 year as sterile processing technician with completion of formal sterile processing technician course.
Certifications :
Required : Must be certified with IAHCSMM or CBSPD within 1 year.
Preferred : Current certification through internationally recognized organizations such as IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) or Certification Board for Central Sterile Processing.
