9 West is a 24 bed unit featuring 20 private rooms and 2 semi-private rooms. The unit sees many types of diagnoses with the most common being related to : CHF, Stroke, A-Fib RVR, COPD, Chest Pain, UTI, Sepsis and Kidney Failure.

The unit has a Heart Failure Nurse Navigator, Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Coordinator. The 9 West staff has been nominated and selected several times for The Daisy Award, an award you can only receive from a patient or family nominating you for going above and beyond expectations.

The team of RNs is made up of a variety of experience from New Grad to 30+ yrs of experience.

New Grad RNs who accept a position with Parma 7 are eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus and the Loan Repayment program offering up to $15,000.

Position Summary

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients / families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Essential Functions

  • Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care.
  • Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.
  • Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.
  • Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing.
  • Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Qualifications

Education

Other Accredited Program Diploma in Nursing Required or

ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing Required

BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred

MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice required.
  • Use of a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio required at time of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within orientation period
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Adult and Pediatric Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area standards.
