About The Position
Job Title : Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty : Acute Care - Respiratory Therapist Job Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : 3x12-hour shifts, Day / Night / Weekend / Holiday Rotation Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred License : New York State Licensure required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS preferred Must-Have : Previous acute care experience preferred Job Description : Render highly professional and technical care to patients requiring specialized respiratory care interventions.
- Collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to deliver healthcare services.
- Assess patient needs, develop and contribute to the plan of care, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory regimens.
- Document all care and interventions in the medical record in accordance with hospital and professional standards.- Communicate essential patient and family information to other healthcare team members and solicit feedback.
- Consider physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs to promote dignity and healing.- Obtain and analyze physiological specimens, interpret physiological data, and perform tests and studies of the cardiopulmonary system.
- Apply and monitor medical gases and environmental control systems, manage mechanical ventilator support and airway management, conduct bronchopulmonary hygiene, and utilize pharmacological agents related to respiratory care.
- Focus on family and patient education to promote knowledge of the disease process, medical therapy, and self-help.- Maintain current knowledge and competency in the practice of Respiratory Care and participate in the mentoring and orientation of staff.
- Plan the delivery of care considering factors related to safety, cost, and impact.
