PositionPurpose
TheVeterinary Technician assists theveterinarians and lead technicians with patient care and treatmentmonitors hospitalized pets maintains inventory preparesprescriptions performs routine inhouse laboratory work educatesclients regarding veterinary care and procedures and assists withsurgical procedures.
We are seeking a Veterinary technician who hasan understanding of animal anatomy physiology and behaviorto provide proper care and handling.
Familiarity with veterinarymedicine including common diseases treatments and medications forvarious animal species. Skills in assisting veterinarians duringsurgical procedures including anesthesia monitoring andpostoperative care.
Proficiency in performing and interpretinglaboratory tests such as blood work urinalysis and cytology.Ability to operate radiographic equipment and interpret diagnosticimages such as Xrays.
Knowledge of veterinary pharmacologyincluding drug administration dosages and potential side effects.Skills in safely restraining animals for examinations or proceduresto minimize stress and injury.
Training in emergency and criticalcare procedures including CPR and first aid for animals. Ability toeffectively communicate with pet owners about animal care treatmentplans and followup procedures.
Competence in maintaining accuratemedical records and documentation for each patient. Knowledge ofvaccination protocols parasite control and general wellness carefor animals.
Familiarity with veterinary tools and equipmentincluding surgical instruments anesthesia machines and diagnosticdevices.
The ideal candidate has the ability to workcollaboratively with veterinarians other vet techs and supportstaff in a fastpaced environment and can make the commitment toongoing professional development to stay current with veterinarypractices and advancements in the field.

EssentialResponsibilities
- Assistveterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgeryand other tasks asneeded.
- Assistveterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories vital signsand weights as well as providing clienteducation.
- Preparepatients for surgery and monitor vital signs of the patient duringsurgery.
- Obtainblood stool and other samples; perform inhospital laboratorytesting and prepare specimens for outsidelaboratories.
- Takedevelop and maintain radiographs following proper safetyprocedures.
- Providebasic animal handling and restrain animals duringexams.
- Administerand monitor medications anesthesia vaccines and treatments at thediscretion of theveterinarian.
- Cleanand straighten exam rooms treatment and lab areas; restock examrooms with supplies. Assist other team members to keep the publicareas of the practice clean;
clean and maintain all medicalequipment.
- Demonstratewarmth courtesy and professionalism in all interactions withclients; exercise compassion and care in all interactions withpatients.
- Communicatewith veterinarians and practice team members including clientdiscussions patient plans client concernsetc.
- Anyother duties asassigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Previousveterinary experiencepreferred
- Abilityto lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability tolift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds withassistance
- PracticeOSHA safety techniques including properPPE
- Basicmath and the ability to calculate medicationdosages
- Basiccomputer skills familiarity with MS office applicationsetc.
- Strongcommunication skills to ensure patientsafety
