Position Overview : We are seeking a qualified Special Education (SPED) Teacher to join our team on a contract basis in Chicago Heights, IL.
The SPED Teacher will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
- Provide direct instruction in various subjects according to students' IEP goals
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the unique needs of each student
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure the success of students with disabilities
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student achievement and progress
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay current on best practices in special education
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid Illinois teaching license with Special Education endorsement
- At least one year of recent experience working as a Special Education Teacher
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
