Financial Analyst
SmartHire is looking for a highly skilled Financial Analyst for a client on the Eastside of Seattle. This is a Direct Hire position.
Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or cost accounting ideally in Food Manufacturing.
A degree in Accounting / Finance and strong computer / technical skills. Ability to travel is required.
Salary : $100k - $125k DOE

Summary
The Finance Manager provides financial analysis and support to the two plants (eastside and northern plant) Operations Management Teams to optimize organizational performance, analyze plant variances and trends, and provide informed recommendations to product costing while maintaining appropriate accounting controls and reporting.
The scope of this position includes analyzing and reporting on cost data, assisting in the development of cost control measures, and supporting the overall financial performance of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Analyzes financial data and operational metrics to deliver meaningful and actionable reports.
- Ensures compliance with JSOX controls.
- Provides financial support to the Category Management team in analyzing operations performance of products and standard margins.
- Prepares financial reporting for plant operations, including actual versus budget performance.
- Establishes, monitors, and improves product cost estimates for existing and new items, and integrates into costing system.
This includes working closely with R&D, Marketing and Production personnel to ensure costs are accurate and represent the most likely results.
- Leads budget preparation and forecasting process for both plants
- Manages the development of standard costs and absorption rates.
- Oversees monthly plant related financial closings, including all reconciliations of inventories and variance analyses.
- Analyzes manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, to support cost control and efficiency initiatives.
- Reviews and analyzes work orders for major variances from standards and completes the work order close process.Identify trends and work with Production to improve efficiencies to decrease costs.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of cost accounting procedures.
- Provides assistance regarding account charges and other questions affecting financial statements.
- Provides detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions.
- Supports Finance with accumulation of audit documentation and annual audit processes.
- Plan, organize and direct all activities of the cost accounting with 25% of the time on the production / plant floor.
- This position will ensure proper invoice compliance with WA sales tax and exemption laws. As needed, this position will work with vendors to ensure compliance.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing or cost accounting (ideally in Food Manufacturing)
- Proficient with computer systems and MS Office applications; ERP systems experience preferred
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
- Some travel required
