Qualifications (education, professional certifications or licenses, experience, proficiencies)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years relevant experience preferred
  • Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment
  • Proficiency in basic filing principles
  • Driver’s License from the state of residence is preferred, but required for 8 am 4 pm shift

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with concrete needs (e.g., hygiene products, linens, MetroCards, laundry detergent, dorm access, etc.)
  • Oversee weekly under bed cleanouts and linen exchanges
  • Manage bed pack-ups, including completing pack-up inventory
  • Manage use of bed bug oven
  • Monitor client laundry room as necessary
  • Manage client property storage and dispose of client property in accordance with policy
  • Manage inventory of hygiene products, linens, and other client supplies.
  • Ensure that supplies remain adequately stocked in appropriate locations (e.g., office supplies, cups for water, etc.)
  • Assist in bed count and census management (for night shift)
  • Complete new client intakes, including conducting immediate needs assessment, reviewing and signing appropriate client forms, and entering data in appropriate databases
  • Pick up and deliver packages and complete other errands as assigned
  • Escort clients to appointments or other locations as necessary either by using agency vehicle or public transportation
  • Provide general clerical support, including filing, faxing, typing, photocopying and sorting mail
  • Enter client and program data into computer databases and other tracking systems
  • Assist in the preparation of mailings
  • Answer telephones, relay messages and greet clients and other visitors
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent map reading skills and ability to navigate public transportation system
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use a walkie-talkie
  • Strong grammar skills
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and / or documents
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather
