We have a career opportunity for a Senior Environmental Mining Specialist with 7 - 10+ of mine permitting and compliance experience.

Location : We prefer that this individual work in either our Denver, CO or Reno, NV offices. Depending on candidate preference, this individual can work in our Salt Lake City, UT, Elko, NV or Helena, MT offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will be the technical lead to support mine permitting projects and support business development associated with environmental services for the mining industry.
  • The position is approximately 80% office and 20% field work on a variety of projects primarily in the mining industry..
  • Office work involve researching literature and regulatory requirements; preparing reports, permit applications and other documents.
  • Interprets data. With experience, may write complete reports.
  • Prepares field reports, internal correspondence, sections of formal reports.
  • Follows company safety standards and site safety standards in accordance with WSP policy.
  • Will travel to project sites throughout Colorado and the western US. Approximately 20% overnight travel.
  • Meet with clients, review RFP's and prepare proposals for a variety of projects.

Role Requirements

  • BS or MS in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science or related scientific discipline or technical field.
  • 7 - 10+ years of related experience.
  • Must be a self starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled at basic or standard field procedures and techniques.
  • Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment.
  • Experience with business development and proposal preparation.
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as required. May include weekend work.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites in Colorado and surrounding states. Approximate 20% overnight travel.
  • Must background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bureau of Land Management and / or US Forest Service project experience.
  • Experience with state and local agencies involved with permitting of mines
  • NEPA knowledge and experience.
  • Section 404 of the Clean Water Act delineating / permitting experience a plus
  • OSHA and or MSHA certificates

Physical Demands

  • Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Ability to hike, lift equipment and willingness to work extended hours (10+ hour days), as needed.

Compensation : Expected Salary (Colorado only) : $95,000 - $125,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and / or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
