NOTE : the role is budgeted to start in the $78,000 - 82,000 / year range, depending upon candidate's experience. This is a primarily remote position, with a small amount of on-site time required at our office in Snohomish County, WA.

Summary :

The Sr. Manager, Philanthropy, is responsible for developing and implementing a coordinated plan to solicit and increase annual fundraising revenues.

Annual fundraising strategy and efforts may include community giving, major gifts, annual giving, corporate contributions, grant seeking, special events and appeals, and in-kind resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Create, implement, and actively monitor annual strategy and efforts for philanthropic revenue generation.
  • Prepare detailed plans for all fundraising programs, including board-approved budgets to support implementation.
  • Work with CEO, board, and senior management to analyze the fundraising programs and plan for future activities.
  • Identify and implement new revenue streams and fundraising methods, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted revenue.
  • Support board members in being effective, enthusiastic fundraisers by acting as full-time champions; help them identify prospects and be door openers and co-strategists on gift approaches.
  • Collaboratively develop relationships necessary to provide effective stewardship and ongoing communications with donors and prospective contributors.
  • Personally cultivate and maintain a donor portfolio of around 50-60 donors and support Philanthropy Coordinator(s) in doing the same.
  • Offer personalized outreach, actively build relationships, and maintain systems for moving donors up the pipeline.
  • Work with staff to systematically review, evaluate, and classify donors for cultivation and stewardship.
  • Analyze data, track trends, and determine corresponding strategies and actions to support the success of the philanthropy plan.
  • Engage the CEO in building and maintaining relationships with strategically significant donors.
  • Stay current on philanthropic trends and provide training and active support for all others involved in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts.
  • Oversee grant-seeking program (research, relationship management, grant calendar, and grant reporting) including Grants Manager and Grant Writer.
  • Represent the organization in the community as needed.
  • Create and / or oversee all content and materials needed for fundraising programs (proposals to donors and donor prospects, gift recognition and acknowledgment materials, appeal letters, newsletters, etc.).
  • Ensure all gifts are processed in a timely and accurate manner, according to legal and accounting standards, and that records are accessible and useful in making informed decisions.
  • Manage all assigned staff and volunteers including recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation. Develop and maintain staff relationships to achieve high staff morale, productivity, teamwork, and retention.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, and multiple funding sources as requested.
  • Regular and routine attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with demonstrated progressive success in nonprofit financial development.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver on a vision for future development as well as immediate goals.
  • Experience working in collaboration with senior management staff and Boards of Directors.
  • Experience supervising and training staff, volunteers, and committees.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, with individuals and groups.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and public speaking skills.
  • Experience in effectively coordinating multiple projects on time within approved budgets.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals.
  • Experience with donor management software; effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint);

comfortable navigating in Microsoft Windows environment and using internet browsers.

Absent any regulatory or contractual requirement for specific education / certification, other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of Puget Sound Region philanthropic community, emphasis on Snohomish County.
  • Experience with Raisers Edge platform.
  • Experience working to fundraise for multiple programs under one agency.
  • Experience with diverse communities.
  • Fluency in other languages in addition to English.

Work Environment and Physical Demands :

  • This work is performed in an office environment, staff's place of residence and / or in public venues.
  • When necessary, the ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent in-person interactions.
  • Must be able to use full range of senses as needed to complete the job's essential duties.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds occasionally related to equipment / supplies for public presentations.
  • Work requires occasional travel away from the office during normal business hours.

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS :

Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance, with an increased cost share for employees scheduled for 25-29 hours / week.

Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays" per year, as well as paid vacation and sick time.

Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan upon hire and, after one year and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.
