Provides inpatient medical care, with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff;
e.g. : Patient history, physical examination, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses and instituting treatment plans.
- Provides inpatient consultation on internal medicine conditions and may unction as a critical team member on the hospital code team.
- In conjunction with the supervising physician conducts admission evaluations and assessments and provides inpatient medical coverage for community physicians as necessary.
- May be required to take call. Specific procedures within the Department of Medicine are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
