The Senior Accounting Manager will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, and internal and external audits.

This person will manage the accounts payable function, monthly closing of accounts, and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements.

The Senior Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Controller and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.

This position addresses tight deadlines and many accounting activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform month-end, quarter-end & year-end closing, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation, inter / intra-company transaction & reconciliations with foreign currency.
• Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
• Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation / Training of process and system changes.
• Preparation & correspondence to the finance & tax audit.
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a JSOX environment
• Review government reports on a monthly, quarterly and / or annual basis.
• Review sub-ledger reports (A / P, A / R, FA, CA modules) and tie to the trial balance.
• Manage Fixed Assets record and oversee physical inventory as necessary.
• Oversee Account Payable team.
• Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades and implementation of ERP software.
• Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies as needed, and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed, and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud.
• Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns.
• Supervise the team to ensure they're motivated and provided proper support to meet their job duties and responsibilities.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.

EXPERIENCE AND WORK REQUIREMENTS

• Eight years or more of related experience required.
• Highly-effective team management.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
• Strong writing and verbal communication in Japanese is required.
