Overview

Kamatics, a divison of Kaman, that speicalizes in self-lubricating bearings and engineered products. We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in Bloomfield, CT on first shift.

The core hours for the position are 7 : 00am to 3 : 30pm and we are currently running one hour of mandatory overtime, offered at the front end of the shift for a required 45 hours a week.

Overttime pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 in a week. We offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits including a 100% dollar for dollar match on the first 5% you contribute to the 401(k) plan along with generous time-off programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Independently set up, adjust, troubleshoot and check programming. Operate numerically controlled machine tools (2 axis lathe / 3 axis mill) to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring an intermediate level of skill
• Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, screw machine operation, etc.

• Works from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
• Self-sufficient with material clamping methods, machine adjustments / offsets and console settings.

Qualifications

Education :

• High School diploma / GED
• Machining Training Certificate preferred

Experience :

Minumum of 3 years of manufacturing experience

Skills / Knowledge

• Understands the use and inspection methods of GD&T constraints
• Proficient in use of shop math
• Works independently, no supervision
• Troubleshoots basic programming errors such as taper, chatter and chip control
• Proficient in setting up CNC machine
• Works to standard in jaw-cutting, bringing a part to size and inspecting a part for a first piece
• Has working knowledge of the relationship between federate and surface finish as well as surface speed to material type
