This role is on-site in Cheyenne, WY. Per Diem is provided.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Underground Utilities Laborer to join our construction team, supporting projects focused on the installation and maintenance of underground utility systems, including water, sewer, and storm drainage. This role requires a hardworking individual with a commitment to safety and teamwork in dynamic construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utility systems, including water, sewer, and storm drainage lines.

Perform manual labor tasks such as digging trenches, backfilling, and compacting soil using hand tools or light machinery.

Support heavy equipment operators by spotting, guiding, and ensuring safe operations around excavation sites.

Prepare job sites by setting up traffic control, safety barriers, and shoring systems as needed.

Adhere to all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment, reporting any issues to the supervisor.

Follow the foreman’s directions for daily tasks and project-specific expectations.

Assist with material handling, including loading, unloading, and transporting pipes, fittings, and other supplies.

Perform basic equipment maintenance and cleaning to ensure tools and machinery remain in good working condition.

Conduct general site cleanup to maintain a safe and organized work area.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction, preferably in underground utility installation or related fieldwork.

Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Basic knowledge of underground utility systems and construction practices.

Ability to safely operate hand tools and light machinery (e.g., compactors, jackhammers).

Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math for recording measurements and following project plans.

Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Flexibility to work in various locations, as job sites may change daily.

Willingness to work varying hours, including potential night shifts, depending on job, location, and season.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Perform physically demanding tasks requiring significant use of arms and legs, including standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, talking, and hearing.

Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Exposure to exhaust fumes, dust, and loud noise from construction activities.

Comfort working in potentially harsh weather conditions and confined spaces.
