Responsibilities of the Controller :
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff members, ensuring their expertise in their respective roles and promoting cross-training for seamless office operations during absences
- Hold overall accountability for managing various accounting functions, including accounts payable, cash management, prepaid expenses, endowment, gifts and grants, fixed assets, accruals & deferred revenue, long-term debt, and temporarily restricted funds
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings in adherence to GAAP
- Supervise the external year-end and interim audits, collaborate with external auditors, and facilitate the provision of accurate and timely information
- Prepare the Institute's tax returns, FISAP, Forms 1099, Form 5500, NCAA survey, and other regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws
- Oversee treasury operations and debt activity, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure proper handling of funds, reviewing cash activity regularly, and managing debt and swap payments
- Maintain the school's chart of accounts and fund accounting system, ensuring accuracy and organization
- Provide oversight for state scholarships, student loans, grants, and contracts accounting, and assist faculty and staff with financial compliance related to financial aid and grants
- Develop accounting policies and procedures when required, maintaining the integrity of the Institute's financial records and asset safeguarding
- Drive the implementation and utilization of cutting-edge technologies to enhance efficiency

Expectations of the Controller :
- Bachelors degree in accounting / finance or related field
- Ten or more years experience in financial operations
- Previous management / supervisory experience and demonstrated effectiveness with staff development and team building
