STATUS : Non-Exempt / Hourly

BASIC PURPOSE
As the primary point of contact between the caf and our customers, Caf Workers work to create a customer-focused environment through excellent service, quality food, and carefully maintained order and cleanliness throughout the restaurant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver excellent customer service by connecting through strong communication and a positive attitude
- Stay informed about the beverage and food offerings and help deliver them in a timely and appealing manner
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications, including food handling permits
- Assist with food preparation as directed
- Maintain workplace cleanliness throughout the shift, focusing on food and health safety and visual appeal
- Follow all Salvation Army operating and money handling procedures
- Support customers and coworkers by treating all persons with dignity and respect
- Contribute to the positive attitude of the caf by remaining calm and kind even in stressful situations and by letting a supervisor know about any problems as they arise
- Perform other related job duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma preferred
- Ability to speak and write the English language at a professional level
- High degree of confidentiality is required as we serve a sensitive population
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent and professional personal etiquette
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
- Must maintain proper attendance and punctuality
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, and / or pull objects
- Ability to reach overhead
- Ability to operate telephone
- Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to process written, visual, and / or verbal information
- Ability to operate basic restaurant equipment and tools
