The Mechanical Engineer will be working in an inter-disciplinary and collaborative team that works on hardware prototyping for AR / VR products.
The ideal candidate will be able to make informed decisions with what is working or needs to be completed and improved. This role is fast-paced, low volume, with a high mix of hardware prototypes.
The team is small, collaborative, and helpful. There are project meetings, and this role is a great opportunity for those interested in developing cutting-edge technology for the future AR / VR products!
Role Responsibilities (including, but not limited to) :
- This role is primarily mechanical design (concept and design in CAD, prototype / build their designs) as opposed to project management
- Conceptualize and design parts and assemblies for a product, equipment or system involving complex mechanical, electrical and optical components
- Generate 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for parts and assemblies using CAD software (NX preferred)
- Identify fabrication methodology for parts. Setup and document instructions to assemble devices
- Assemble prototype devices in-house involving mechanical, electrical, and optical components
- Perform DFM / DFA assessments for the design while ensuring they meet functionality, reliability and user experience design goals
- Design, fabricate, and assemble test fixtures and other tooling for experiments and prototype assembly / test
- Document and maintain prototype parts inventory, assign tolerances for the parts and perform tolerance stack analysis
