Department Summary :
The Quantum Information Science, Optics and Imaging Department will provide innovative solutions to address new opportunities and challenges associated with these and other novel emerging technologies.
We have a strong foundation of technical expertise across the broad spectrum of these technologies that our sponsors can draw upon to develop new capabilities as well as assess their vulnerabilities and respond to emerging risks.
We are seeking leaders to expand our program in key areas for our sponsors.
Roles & Responsibilities :
- Perform and lead research in quantum sensing, computing, networking, and related quantum technologies.
- Advise and educate our government sponsors on all aspects of quantum information technology and their potential applications.
- Develop technical benchmarks, metrics, roadmaps, and other frameworks to help our sponsors better understand, plan for, and otherwise engage with quantum technologies.
- Explore additional new or emerging technologies that may be of interest to MITRE and our sponsors.
Basic Qualifications :
- Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD plus 3 years of relevant experience
- Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.
- Deep understanding and demonstrated research expertise in quantum computing, sensing, and / or communications
- The ability to manage and pursue new opportunities to meet sponsor requirements in a collaborative environment with both internal and external researchers.
- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
Preferred Qualifications :
- PhD in Physics, Quantum Technologies, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in growing, developing and leading quantum information projects
