JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a well-rounded and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong understanding of spacecraft system design with an inclination towards thermal analysis.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in SolidWorks and functional knowledge of Thermal Desktop, along with familiarity with Matlab and Simulink.

This role will involve mechanical design, thermal analysis, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to integrate thermal solutions into spacecraft designs.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Mechanical design of spacecraft components and subsystems, including primary and secondary structures. Develop detailed designs, models, and drawings.
  • Design electronics enclosures and packaging solutions to meet project requirements and specifications.
  • Generate part / assembly drawings, GD&T specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Familiarity with SC (AIT) assembly and testing procedures.
  • Support thermal analyses for spacecraft missions to predict and optimize thermal behavior under various operating conditions and in orbit environments.
  • Develop thermal models of spacecraft systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems engineers, structural engineers, and 3rd parties (customers / vendors), to integrate thermal solutions into spacecraft designs.

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Proficient user of SolidWorks CAD package.
  • Functional knowledge of Thermal Desktop is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with Matlab and Simulink are assets.
  • Demonstrated experience with detailed design and thermal analysis of mechanical hardware.
  • Familiarity with the space environment and spacecraft systems.
  • Familiarity with material selection and thermal material coatings for space applications.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team framework.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education & Work Experience :

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Compensation :

  • Annual Base Salary Range : $ 125,000.00 - $ 175,000.00 / per year
  • Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. Your actual base salary will be determined on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

This is a full-time position in San Jose, California. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services.
