Position Summary :

The laser tube cutting technician will be responsible for all aspects of tube laser operation, maintenance, programming, and process improvements, along with metal fabrication using tube laser cutting machinery. This position requires the ability to make fast and accurate decisions relating to the part production process.

Essential Job Functions :

• Set up, maintain, and operate LT-FREE 6-axis Laser Cutter
• Do surface plate layouts and set up cut fixtures
• Change part programs with Artube software and at the machine to produce parts to print – making offsets, changing microjoints, change cut parameters to improve cut quality
• Creating new programs to include the following : 6-axis data sheet, cut path, fixture program (AutoCAD and Metalsoft)
• Lead general labor help to maximize laser output
• Set up custom laser conditions to handle unusual materials / difficult cutting situations
• Check parts with Romer laser arm
• Do routine maintenance
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Package parts for shipping
• Complete job documentation

Qualifications :

EDUCATION : High School Diploma or GED, vocational training

CREDENTIALS / LICENSURE : forklift operator’s license preferred

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE : 1 year related laser cutting experience, 2 years in fabrication

Position Type and Expected Hours :

This is a full-time non-exempt position with a minimum of 40hrs / week with overtime as needed. Note : days and hours required may vary.

Shifts include

1st - Monday-Friday – 7 : 00am-3 : 30pm

2nd - Monday-Thursday – 3 : 30pm-2 : 00am ($1.00 per hour shift premium)

Weekend Days – Fri, Sat, Sun – 5 : 00am-5 : 30pm ($2.00 per hour shift premium)

Environmental Expectations :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to manufacturing processes that include and are not limited to; fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
