POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Dental Hygienist will clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. The position also educates patients on oral hygiene, takes and develops x-rays, and applies fluoride or sealants.
Salary :
DOE : $40 - $45 / hour
General Duties & Responsibilities :
- Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride and sealants, and root planning
- Complete a thorough assessment of the patient's teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues, and document any abnormalities or suspected conditions
- Customize care to meet patient's oral health
- Responsible for period charting, updating clinical notes of patients, and taking x-rays as needed
- Educate patients on good oral hygiene techniques
- Aid the dentist with procedures and emergencies as needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Provide all care in conjunction with accepted professional dental practices and standards
- Follow COVID-19 protocols, including wearing a face mask while at work, washing hands regularly, and keeping frequently touched areas clean
- Travel to other Columbia Dental locations to provide coverage when requested by the Manager
- Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications & Skills :
- Detail oriented
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Experience working in a dental office is a plus
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple tasks
- Proven dedication in providing high-quality, comprehensive dental care
- Ability to comply with safety procedures, rules, and regulations in order to maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practices
- Reliable and flexible
- Self-motivated with the ability to exceed patient expectations
- Excellent customer service and computer skills
Education & Experience :
- Graduate of an accredited school of dental hygiene
- Registered Dental Hygienist licensure in state of practice
- Current CPR certification is strongly preferred
- 1-2 years of experience working in a dental practice is strongly preferred
- Must be a Certified Dental Technician (CDT)
Physical Demands :
- Prolonged periods of standing, leaning, and bending as needed
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write / type
- Must be able to lift and / or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
