MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides technical support by performing installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of personal computer and related software / hardware.
  • Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when related to personal desktop computers.

Activities include recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up steps.

  • Screens, refers, and diagnoses internal inquiries and work requests as they relate to maintenance of personal computers utilizing experience and understanding of HPMC’s IS environment.
  • Contact and coordinate for third party vendors for issues such as printer and multifunctional device repair (Xerox, Precision Printing, etc).
  • Monitor ticket queues for both Incidents and Requests, and prioritize the tickets to provide for fastest resolution possible for both issue types, to the SLA’s established by the department.
  • Maintains an awareness of availability and functionality of all PC and Network Systems in the hospital.
  • Performs network / system administration duties such as backups as needed.
  • Maintains an awareness of the needs for IS in the hospital.
  • Performs hardware and software troubleshooting among all distributed systems and PCs.
  • Maintain standards associated with network configuration, procedures, and documentation.
  • Produce required department reporting associated with projects assigned by CIO and through help desk queues.
  • Ensures all IS computer equipment works properly and initiates repair process when necessary.
  • Installs and configures computers, monitors, servers, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners, and related hardware without supervision.
  • Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including hardware and software, email, network, and peripheral equipment problems.
  • Communicates to users problems or issues with their applications.
  • Helps to maintain backups of all systems, and retrieve from backup when needed.
  • Maintains stock of backup parts to replace defective hardware.
  • Ability to organize own work, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to assess the needed specifications for computers and related equipment, and request and obtain quotes for those items, while recognizing minimum need and cost issues to the hospital.

Can produce multiple quotes when needed.

  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Be a part of an on call rotation for after-hours support.
  • After-hours and weekend assignments as deemed necessary by the CIO.
  • All other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

A+ or MCDST certification

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • Master’s Degree Preferred

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in a technical support role
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience

  • Ability to multitask
  • Functions effectively in a fast paced, fluid environment
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to work in a union environment.

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

Current Los Angeles County Fire Card required (within 30 days of employment).
