Part-Time Adjunct Instructor position in Asian Literature

Soka University of America (SUA) and the Humanities Concentration invite applications to fill a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor position in Asian Literature to teach 1-2 courses during both Spring semester (February 3 to May 20) and Fall semester (September 3 to December 16) of 2025.

These are three-unit semester courses and will each meet in person for one hour and thirty minutes twice weekly. Class sizes are typically capped at 16 students.

Candidates who are able to teach multiple literary traditions within both premodern and modern Asian literature will be preferred.

The successful candidate will have a strong record of teaching, with a demonstrated understanding of the interdisciplinary curriculum in the liberal arts tradition.

The candidate should demonstrate the ability to engage students in active learning in our small classes.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or be ABD in East Asian Languages and Literatures, Asian Studies, or a related field and should have experience teaching undergraduate Literature courses.
