Medical Collections specialist
We are seeking a medical billing and collections specialist for one of our national clients. This position is responsible for accurate billing, timely submission of claims, researching any rejections or denials, and posting adjustments and collections for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.
Key Responsibilities :
- Charge and Payment Entry : Handles charge and payment entry within Electronic Health Records (EHR). Coordinates with clients / customers to clarify incomplete or missing information necessary for proper account / claim adjudication.
- Claim Processing : Corrects, completes, and processes claims for all payer codes. Ensures claims are accurately sent to insurance companies.
- Follow-Up : Conducts follow-up with Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance companies on unpaid insurance accounts.
- Communication : Engages in daily communication with patients via phone calls and written communications.
- Teamwork : Work as part of a team to meet departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements :
- Minimum of one year of related experience in a clinical or medical environment.
- Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records is a plus.
- Customer service-driven with an understanding of medical terminology and insurance laws / guidelines.
- Excellent organizational skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to learn quickly, build and maintain long-term relationships, and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience with billing software or similar billing systems is ideal.
