Responsibilities

1. Design and Development : Design, implement, and optimize backend services and APIs that power TikTok's applications, ensuring scalability and reliability.

2. System Architecture : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and ensure alignment with business goals and technical requirements.

3. Performance Optimization : Monitor and optimize the performance of backend services, addressing bottlenecks and improving efficiency.

4. Database Management : Design and maintain robust database schemas, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.

5. Code Quality : Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following best practices for software development and version control.

6. Troubleshooting : Identify and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of backend systems.

7. Collaboration : Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features and enhancements.

8. Innovation and Exploration : Explore and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to improve backend systems and processes.

9. Documentation : Maintain thorough documentation of design processes, implementation strategies, and system configurations to ensure transparency and reproducibility.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++.
• Experience with relational and / or NoSQL databases, and understanding of database design and optimization.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and experience with high-scale backend systems.
• Understanding of DevOps practices and tools for CI / CD, monitoring, and logging.
• Contributions to open-source projects or relevant work experience through internships or co-op programs.
• Strong interest in exploring and implementing new technologies to improve backend infrastructure.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
