Job Summary : Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients with mental health disorders. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery and improve patients' quality of life.

Key Responsibilities :

• Patient Assessment : Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status exams, to evaluate patient needs and risks.
• Care Planning : Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare providers, patients, and families.
• Medication Management : Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for therapeutic effects and side effects. Educate patients about their medications.
• Therapeutic Interventions : Implement therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention, counseling, and support for coping strategies.
• Monitoring : Observe and document patients’ mental and physical health status, noting any changes in behavior or condition.
• Family Support : Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment plans.
• Collaboration : Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Crisis Management : Respond to psychiatric emergencies and manage aggressive or disruptive behavior in a safe manner.
• Documentation : Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, assessments, and treatment outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Education and Advocacy : Promote mental health awareness and advocate for patients' rights and needs within the healthcare system.

Qualifications :

• Education : Gradutated for Registered Nursing school.
• Licensure : Current RN licensure in IA or compact
• Experience : Previous experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health preferred.
• Certification : BLS and CPR certifications required; additional certifications in psychiatric nursing
• Skills : Strong communication, interpersonal, and assessment skills; ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Work Environment :

Psychiatric units or facilities, requiring the ability to handle crisis situations and provide compassionate care.
