About The Position
Weekly Pay Range - $1361 To $1512 Job Title : Tech - Medical Laboratory Technician Job Specialty : Medical Lab Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour night shift, 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Preferred 9 years of related work experience License : Valid license required Certifications : Medical Laboratory Technician-ASCP or equivalent certification required within 6 months of hire Must-Have : - Associate Degree or completion of U.
S. Military 50-week course for Medical Laboratory Specialist or equivalent role, OR Bachelors Degree in a Science field with applicable clinical experience- English proficiency : Read, Write, Speak Job Description : Perform all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory and demonstrate high levels of technical knowledge- Consistently function in a self-directed manner and solve complex problems- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to policies, procedures, and guidelines- Perform cytogenetic testing with competency according to established protocols- Generate and report results that influence patient care and management- Demonstrate knowledge and competency in laboratory computer systems- Ensure accurate and timely result reporting, including critical results communication and documentation- Compile and review laboratory information system reports to ensure sample processing within an appropriate timeframe- Resolve unusual test orders by communicating with caregivers, reference labs, or pathology- Participate in training and orientation for new associates and students- May be assigned lead responsibilities in various areas and participate in inspections- Engage in laboratory and / or hospital projects, teams, or committees;
attend relevant meetings and forums- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments with appropriate activity documentation- Complete required quality control and maintenance, recognizing variances and documenting corrective actions- Acknowledge specimen receipt in the laboratory information system, assess priority, and assure appropriate specimen identification and type- Centrifuge, aliquot, and distribute samples to appropriate testing areas- Prepare samples for off-site testing, package them for courier transport, and complete related paperwork- Act as a steward of finances through the appropriate use of supplies and materials- Respond to workload demands and staffing needs by maintaining flexibility- Provide input for improving productivity, workflow, supply management, and cost containment- Serve as a liaison with other laboratory departments and hospital services- Respond to customer inquiries regarding laboratory results, patient testing status, and other laboratory information Additional Responsibilities : Participation in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures- Float assignments may be required to locations within 60 miles, potentially involving duties outside original job requirements, in accordance with policy.
