POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated middle school social studies teacher who excels at engaging students in the exploration of history, geography, civics, and culture.
KIPP Indy teachers are responsible for delivering rigorous, student-centered instruction that fosters critical thinking and global awareness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and implement high-quality lesson plans that align with state standards for social studies.
- Utilize engaging strategies to teach historical inquiry, cultural perspectives, and civic responsibility.
- Incorporate literacy and language skills into lessons plans to support reading comprehension.
- Regularly assess and track student performance, using data to guide instruction and promote student growth.
- Create and maintain an inclusive, organized, and student-focused classroom environment.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and the community to support academic success.
- Collaborate with the academic team to execute lessons and contribute to curriculum planning.
- Scaffold lessons to accommodate all learners, including multilingual and special education students.
- Incorporate feedback to continuously improve teaching practices.
- Engage in school-wide events, family conferences, and other opportunities for professional collaboration.
- Actively work with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices, embrace feedback, and implement strategies for professional growth.
- Take ownership of your professional development by seeking out learning opportunities and reflecting on your teaching practices.

Qualifications
- Valid Indiana teaching license (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in social studies, history, or a related field (required).
- 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in middle school (preferred).
- Strong record of helping students succeed academically, especially in underserved communities (preferred).
- Commitment to the mission of KIPP Indy and the Indianapolis community (required).
- Pass a criminal background check, as required by law (required).
Additional Information
Licensed teacher starting at $50,000
Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
