Job Overview
The primary responsibility of this position will be daily execution of planning functions. This candidate will play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared towards operational excellence.
Responsibilities :
- Play a significant role in long-term planning, and developing new business
- Daily execution of planning functions
- Dispatch - movement and monitoring of loads
- Look ahead to determine capacity and freight needs based on driver availability, time off, and driver location while working to ensure customer commitments are met
- Daily communication and interaction with Driver Fleet
- Execution of load entry in the Transportation Management System (TMS)
- Backing up other Load Planners as needed
- Back up and support of Driver Managers as needed
- Payroll and Settlement management executed in TMS
- Extra Driver Pay negotiate, enter, and execute
- Lumpers
- Detention
- Ensure that Sales and Customer Service requests are resolved and communicated in a timely manner to internal parties
- Provide input to Sales on freight opportunities and bids for rating and volume commitments
- Maximize Rate Per Mile while minimizing Empty Miles
- Manage Driver hours of service
- Manage Driver time off requests
- Rotating On-call
- Must be comfortable talking to and negotiating with Brokers and booking Backhauls
- Play a significant role in long-term retention efforts driver revenue and profitability
Qualifications
- Commitment to the transportation industry
- Experience in Fleet Operations Dispatch and Planning
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, and outlook
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Current knowledge of FMSCA rules and regulations
- Ability to look at situations from several points of view
- Persuasive with details and facts
- High comfort level working in a diverse environment
