Patient Care Associate II / 3 West 32 hour nights-(3290676)
Description
The Patient Care Assistant II provides patient care andperforms unit activities under the direction of the Registered ProfessionalNurse.
These include, but are notlimited to, direct patient care activities such as taking vital signs and assistingpatients with the basic activities of daily living, as well as non-clinicalactivities such as acting as a receptionist, coordinating equipment, providingtransportation activities, and performing tasks specific to the departmentassigned.
The Patient Care Assistant II interacts with patients,families, nursing, and a variety of interdisciplinary personnel and possessesstrong interpersonal and communication skills.
The PCA II staff collaborateamongst themselves to ensure safe patient care and smooth unit operations.
Qualifications
Job Knowledge and Skills :
Successful completion of the Patient Care AssistantProficiency Exam with a score of 80% or better (experienced PCAs and Nursingstudents)
Successful completion of the literacy exam with a score of80% or better (all candidates)
CPR training required
Phlebotomy training preferred
Must be able to speak and understand written and oralEnglish communication
Education :
High school graduate or equivalent
Experience :
Six months of experience as a Nursing Assistant, or is a Nursingstudent currently enrolled in a formal program who has successfully completedat least one clinical rotation, or is currently enrolled in and successfullycompletes the NWH Patient Care Assistant Training Program.
Phlebotomy experience preferred
