Description : JOB PURPOSE

JOB PURPOSE

Provide customers with a friendly greeting and product knowledge regarding plants, pet care and other seasonal items. Use suggestive selling techniques that assist customers to purchase accompanying items.

Ensure the store looks fresh by efficiently performing cleaning, stocking, product rotation, and merchandising duties. Work closely with team members to create a positive and welcoming shopping and work environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet customers in a friendly manner, use product knowledge to answer questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
• Operate a cash register and perform various types of accurate transactions inclusive of cash, gift cards and credit cards as well as Barn Card discounts.
• Stock & clean shelves, counters and / or tables.
• Assist with maintaining inventory levels by counting, requisitioning and / or ordering.
• Organize merchandise throughout the store and maintain clean products, fixtures and displays.
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
• Assume other duties as assigned by store manager or supervisors.

Requirements : QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

• Retail experience highly preferred, but not required.
• Positive, friendly, and outgoing.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Must be able to work weekends and have a flexible schedule.
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently lift and / or move items that weigh up to 50 lbs.
• Requires standing and / or walking for long periods of time.
• Requires ability to bend and stoop throughout the day.
• Requires ability to use arms and shoulders to lift and reach overhead, mid-level and low-level.
• Requires ability to climb stairs and step-ladders.
• Requires ability to work indoors and outdoors for various periods of time.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP

Must be able to work closely with all store personnel, Store Manager and Supervisors.

SALARY

Incremental pay increase plan based on hours worked, bi-annual bonus eligible.
