Description
The Department of Mathematics at The University of Texas at Austin has openings for a professional-track (Lecturer / Assistant Professor of Instruction) teaching positions to begin Fall 2025.
Primary duties are teaching undergraduate courses. A full-time load consists of three courses per long semester.
These are one-year positions with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and departmental needs. The number of positions depends on enrollment, so continued employment is not guaranteed.
However, successful Lecturers / Assistant Professors of Instruction are routinely renewed from year to year. The starting salary for full-time load over both long semesters is $54,000 with health and retirement benefits.
A Ph.D. in mathematical sciences is required, although the rare exception may be made for applicants with special technical qualifications desired by the department.
Previous teaching experience at the university level, commitment to quality teaching and good communication skills are also required.
Special consideration may be given to applicants with experience and / or interest in working on course coordination / development, advising and other departmental needs.
