S. NAVY! The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a dynamic individual who will be part of the Coolant Technology Development unit.

  • The successful candidate for this position will be able to conceive and executes ideas and plans that emphasize chemistry to solve problems;
  • design experiments; sponsor chemistry testing to support engineering design, production, and / or novel R&D activities; write detailed technical reports, assessments, and recommendations;

develop and use performance models; and directly support the U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, submarines, prototypes and moored training ships.

Significant teamwork and collaboration with other organizations, both internal to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and external sub-contractors, will be involved throughout projects to continuously improve performance evaluations.

  • Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience;
  • or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience;
  • or PhD degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Currently or previously NPE qualified;

or CTE / ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.

Preferred Skills BS in chemical engineering or chemistry Experience with designing experiments and explaining results Experience with water purification media and technologies Experience with Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program water chemistry Project management and leadership Teaming and collaboration with good oral and written communication Familiarity with modeling software and / or chemistry prediction tools (e.
