Job Description
Under the supervision of the licensed physician, the Medical Assistant will per form non-invasive routine technical supportive services of clinic patients' care relating to therapeutic and diagnostic functions, following established procedures, techniques and work schedules.
The supervising licensed physician must be physically present in the treatment facility in order for the Medical Assistant to perform their non-invasive technical supportive services.
The Medical Assistant also provides a variety of administrative, assistive & supportive clinical and outreach activities.
The Medical Assistant cannot evaluate or synthesize data.
Reports to :
Direct & Administrative : RN Supervisor or designee
Professional / Technical : RN Supervisor in consultation with the physician
Varied and depends on Clinical Area
Women's Health, Public Health Services, & Programs, etc.)
MA II
1. For all positions, regardless of clinical areas assigned, must :
Meet the requirements of an MA I for the appropriate clinical area assigned, and
Have completed a minimum of 4,160 hours (2 full years) of paid previous experience as a Medical Assistant, including the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as required for an MA I for that clinical area.
Is able to use computerized MIS system (RAMS 5) for scheduling of patients.
Is able to satisfactorily serve as a guide / mentor to new employees within the same job description.
MA II. Family Medicine
1. For all positions assigned to the clinical areas of Family Medicine :
Must have completed State approved audiometric training for CHDP.
MA II. Women's Health
For all positions assigned to the clinical areas of Women's Health :
- Must have completed Basic Health Worker training.
- Additional Certification as HIV counselor desirable in both departments.Qualifications :
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate, and completion of a State approved program for Medical Assistants.
- Completion of state approved training and certification (Calif. Business & Professional Code 2069, 2070; and Calif. Code of Regulations 1377, 1377.

- Display qualities of dependability and reliability, be willing to accept a variety of tasks, and able to comprehend quickly and follow instructions accurately.
- Be able to communicate tactfully and empathetically, with cultural sensitivity; with staff and patients.
Fluently bilingual Spanish + English required, with excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated in both languages.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR Policy.
- Current CA Driver’s License, valid vehicle insurance, and an available vehicle needed.
