Job Description :

Rhodes College seeks an Electrician to perform skilled journey-level work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical circuitry and equipment.

Job Requirements :

• High school graduation or GED equivalency, preferred.
• Five years work experience in electrical field, required.
• Memphis / Shelby County journeyman electrician's license, required or must be obtained within 1 year of hire is required.
• This position requires a valid driver's license, good driving record, and must be insurable by the College's insurance carrier.

Job Responsibilities :

• Installs, repairs, and replaces electrical circuits, lighting, distribution panels, feeder cables, circuit breakers, switches, rough-ins, trim-outs, etc.
• Changes light bulbs and tubes and replaces light fixtures.
• Performs hazardous work in connecting fuses, change over switches, gears, starting controls, electrical motors, compressors, and high voltage lighting.
• Checks and replaces computer cables, telephone lines, and light ballasts.
• Bends conduits of various sizes using manual and hydraulic benders and mathematical formulae.
• Maintains underground high voltage primary distribution system including cable, transformers, and switches.
• Installs, services, and troubleshoots DDC and various other types of HVAC controls associated with a campus-wide energy management system.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position.

Physical Demands :

• Heavy work : Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Exposure to extreme heat, noise, chemicals, fumes, dust. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Close visual acuity.
• Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Exposure to extreme cold and heat, noise, chemicals, fumes, dust.
• Required to function in narrow aisles or passageways
