Overview
Reporting to the Associate Director, Contracting Analytics, in the Market Access group, this role will support contracting initiatives, pricing, and financial analytics across the company portfolio of products.
This individual will provide support on all new agreements, language negotiations and contract renewals and serve as the contract subject matter expert.
Additionally, this position will work to create and execute contracts and / or amendments, and maintain all contracting duties.
This role will require strong cross-functional collaboration on all activities to ensure organizational alignment. This person should be familiar with and able to discuss different segments of market access, contracting strategies and tactics, understand the various types of managed care contracting and be able to determine the potential value of a contracting opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Management of the Contract Lifecycle, including but not limited to drafting, modification, execution, amendments, and renewal of Health Plan Value Based Agreement (VBA) contracts, IDN and GPO contracts, and Government contracts (i.
e. Medicaid, VA , DoD) across a portfolio of products.
Understand contracting strategies and maintain current knowledge supporting data structures, business processes, and documentation for assigned accounts;
assist with any decisions and changes required to adapt to business needs.
- In collaboration with National Account Leads, Field Reimbursement Directors, and Health System Directors, negotiate various types of agreements.
- Ensure timely review, approval, implementation and follow-through of assigned contract proposals.
- Establish cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders including Legal, Pricing and Strategy, Government Pricing, and Finance to ensure agreements are operational, functional, and interpreted accurately for timely implementation and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Establish and maintain policies and applicable documentation in accordance with established departmental guidelines to support SoX compliance.
- Act as liaison between Alnylam Market Access and third-party data aggregator by applying expert knowledge of existing processes, contract terms interpretation, dashboard metrics and driving process improvements.
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and maintain organization among various projects and work streams.
- Develop external and internal working partnerships with collaboration across Brands, Market Access, Finance, Contracting Operations, Legal, Procurement and other functional teams in support of contracting process, strategies and offer development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required, advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5+ year’s relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry including at least 3 years in pharmaceutical contracting, rebates, or finance.
- Experience should include strong understanding of Managed Care, Medicare Part B, GPO, PBM and other Payer segments.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate data into strategy.
- Understanding of key Payer and customer segments relevant to brand products and the US Reimbursement System across major Payer segments (Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid, Federal).
- Able to identify, develop, and recommend process improvements, drive for efficiency, innovation, and differentiation.
- Experience influencing senior leadership and present recommendations for approval and obtaining support to execute.
- Competent with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
